Fountain Inn's Christmas Starts December 1. Its Deadlines Fall In November.

Fountain Inn's Christmas INN Our Town runs one event a night for most of the first week of December. Most of the decisions about it come due in November. As of early November, every performance of the Younts Center's holiday musical showed Sold Out. Parade entries close Friday, November 20, and that is also the last day to sign up for the Rudolph Run and be sure of a race shirt. Carriage rides are sold only in advance. The tree lighting, the parade and the Merry Market each have a set time and place. For the rest of the week, your plans depend on what you book before Friday, November 20.

The Dates That Come Before The Lights

Here is the November calendar for a December festival, in order:

  1. Now. Carriage ride tickets are sold only in advance, through Main Street Fountain Inn.
  2. Friday, November 20, 4:00 p.m. Entries close for the Christmas Parade, hosted by the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce. Entry costs $25 for Chamber members and $50 for non-members.
  3. Friday, November 20. Register by this date to guarantee a shirt for the Rudolph Run at Night.
  4. Monday, November 23. The Chamber notifies accepted parade entries by email or phone and sends lineup, directions and guidelines at the same time.

The parade rules are worth reading before you decorate a float. Every float, car, truck, van and towed vehicle has to be decorated with lights or holiday decorations. Walkers hand candy to children instead of throwing it. And the 2026 page says, in capital letters, "NO ADDITIONAL SANTAS." Anyone who wants to ride a horse in the parade should contact the Chamber directly or use its horse signup.

The Show That Sold Out Before November Started

Ignite Theatrical's A Christmas Carol: The Musical runs December 4 through 19 with 11 performances, at $15 to $20 a ticket. As of early November, all 11 showed Sold Out: opening night on December 4, both December 5 shows, the Sunday evening show on December 6, and every performance through the 7:30 p.m. closing show on December 19.

The production's own listing calls it "back by popular demand" and warns that "tickets will go fast." They did. Each performance on the Younts Center ticket page still has a Join Waitlist button, which is the only way in for now.

The same page shows how the next round starts. Sales for His Life: the Musical, part of the Younts Center's 2027 season, open January 25, 2027. If you missed Scrooge this year, put that date on your calendar.

Five Nights, One Mile Of Main Street

Almost everything else happens within walking distance between 104 N Main St and the Farmers Market Pavilion on Depot Street. Here is the week, with what each night asks of you ahead of time:

Sat, Dec. 5, 6:30 p.m. Rudolph Run fun run, 5K at 6:45 Fountain Inn Fire Station, 200 N Main St Shirt guaranteed by Nov. 20

At the tree lighting, Santa joins Mayor GP McLeer to light the city Christmas tree, with performances and holiday shopping around it. The next evening's parade has no assigned theme. The Chamber's theme is "THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS, and whatever that means to YOU." The Chamber describes the parade as the kickoff to Christmas INN Our Town and adds a bit of local history: Fountain Inn was founded on Christmas Eve. Lineup starts in front of the Younts Center, and parade vehicles enter the staging area at N. Main Street and N. Weston.

Why The Carriage Rides Go Before The Parade Does

The carriage rides are the longest-running piece of the series, and they work like the Younts show. You have to buy a ticket ahead of time. The rides start at the Farmers Market Pavilion, 110 Depot St, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on December 3. Main Street Fountain Inn lists 13 dates in all, and the city's 2026 calendar, as published by gofountaininn.com, runs the season from December 3 through 17, 5 to 9 p.m.

The parade is one evening, but the carriages run on 13 dates, so a family that misses the first weekend can still ride in the second week. Every ride needs a ticket bought in advance, though, and there is no walk-up line to fall back on.

In a gofountaininn.com report on the carriage ticket launch, Community Relations Director Amanda Benfield said, "There's nothing quite like the sound of horse hooves on Main Street, the glow of Christmas lights and families and friends bundled up together making memories." The same report described the Cozy Carriage Kit upgrade:

  • A Fountain Inn Christmas-branded tote
  • A throw blanket and hand warmers
  • A local treat
  • A "Postcard from Santa"
  • "Snowman Soup," marshmallows to top hot cocoa

Main Street's 2026 event page offers the kit as an add-on while supplies last. The report says the upgrade fee is available by request through Main Street's site or by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "I am interested in a Cozy Carriage Kit."

Saturday, December 5: Market By Day, Reindeer Route By Night

The week ends on its busiest day.

The Merry Market fills the Farmers Market Pavilion at 110 Depot St from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

At night, the 14th Annual Rudolph Run at Night 5K & Fun Run follows a certified night route through downtown. Check-in and the starting line are both at the Fountain Inn Fire Station, 200 N. Main St. The 1 Mile Kids Fun Run starts at 6:30 p.m. and the 5K at 6:45 p.m. The registration page lists the fun run at $20.00 plus a $2.20 signup fee and the 5K at $30.00 plus a $2.80 signup fee. Race-day registration stays open until the start, so the November 20 date only matters if you want a guaranteed shirt. Proceeds go to the City of Fountain Inn Youth Sports programs and the Miriam Foundation.

After the race, the organizers invite runners to a "Recovery Round" at downtown restaurants, with post-run specials. That makes Saturday night the best chance of the week to eat on Main Street with a crowd.

Where To Warm Up Between Events

The newest stop on the walk between the Pavilion and the tree is Benny's Sip & Scoop at 113 South Main Street. It opened July 23 in the former Steam Coffee and Cream space, serving coffee and ice cream with pastries and sandwiches on the menu. The Greenville News reported that its first weekend drew more than 500 customers.

Over the summer, the city's Fireworks Spectacular listing named a list of downtown food and drink businesses: Farehouse, FI Taproom, Hotto, Slice 2.0, Voodoo Brewing and Wingnutz, plus Wine Fountain and Kaleo Coffee House. Those are the names to look for along Main Street on a parade night or after the 5K.

Christmas week is also a natural time for the town to look ahead. The city updated its 2026 calendar after the Italian American Heritage Festival, first set for April, was postponed to next year. Along with the Younts Center's January 25 sale date, it is one of the first entries for 2027.
